Robert E. Youse - Announcer

Robert YouseRobert E. Youse, whose voice is familiar to Roanoke radio followers as announcer with WDBJ, has had a wide range of radio experience. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was educated in the schools there and in Seattle, Washington, where he moved with his family, and at Washington State College where he graduated in 1930.

His radio career, began as an amateur over the college station, KWBC, has carried him to Seattle where he worked with station KJR, key station of the National Broadcasting Company for the northwest, then to Washington, D.C., and finally to Roanoke, as a newscaster and announcer.

A six month's period on the road with a singing trio of a Fanchor and Marco vaudeville unit was a brief interlude between two of these engagements. Mr. Youse now sings in the choir of Calvary Baptist church here.
