Hayden Huddleston - Studio Manager

Hayden Huddleston, present studio manager of WDBJ, has been employed in a varied series of capacities by that station ever since its founding in 1924 when he was a lad of 16. Born in Bedford County, he spent his childhood and youth in Vinton, where he held a variety of jobs during and immediately following his high school days. The first job, he says, paid him 45 cents a week for delivering groceries.

Mr. Huddleston's interest in radio dates back to his high school days when he constructed a number of radio receiving sets for friends, and later he was employed for a time as radio repairman with a local electric shop. His jobs around WDBJ studios have included those of transmitter operator, control room operator and announcer.
